Medium-Long Run. 10.75 miles.
Excellent run today. Felt great.
Eric and I met up at 5:30am at Barton Springs. Chatted, got ready, bathroom, and we were off by 5:42am. Nice cool temps this morning. Around 58 degrees.
We did the same route as we did last week. The backwards Longhorn loop. We started out at a very easy pace. And maintained that for the first 56 minutes. Easy running, chatting, etc...
After the second water stop, at 56 min., and a gel, we had a sustained run of about 38 minutes to the Rock. We talked a bit in the early part of this, but then we just fell into our rhythm. We often do this, go from talking about anything and everything into silence and just cruising along. We picked up the pace on this section and it felt good.
Got to the rock, had some water, and then on to the finish. As we always do on Thursday's we finish strong. I almost beat Eric today, but he got me in the end. Someday Senor, someday.
Afterwards Eric had to rush off to work to save the world. I took my time, drank my drink, had my Lara bar, went and soaked for 20 minutes. Good times.
Once out of the water I was freezing. Bundled up, got in the truck, blasted the heat, and headed home.
Tomorrow is rest day!! Can't wait to sleep in.
Saturday's long run should be a lot of fun, 16 miles, most of which is the beginning of the Austin marathon course. Looking forward to it.
Run long....
